We Care New Berlin supports
well-planned commercial and industrial growth to maintain a healthy tax
base and vibrant community, ensuring that taxpayers receive the most for
their dollars.
Our cause is to inform
and educate residents, in addition to championing efforts that are
beneficial to the community. When We Care New Berlin supports candidates
for elected offices, we do so as an independent committee.

In the
February primary election, Jake Krueger and Deena Liska had the
highest number of votes for 5th District alderman and will advance to
the spring general election. District 5 incumbent Joe Poshepny had
withdrawn from the race for health reasons, but not in time for his name
to be taken off the primary ballot.
Deena Liska, 42, is a long-time New
Berlin resident. A homeowner, Deena has lived in our community 32 years
and is a graduate of New Berlin Public Schools. She has a Bachelors
Degree in communications and is employed as an injury prevention
educator. She is married and has 3 daughters. Deena has served as a
volunteer New Berlin firefighter and EMT and has also been actively
involved in PTO, Booster Clubs, Girl Scouts, and NBAA (coach).
Jake Krueger, 23, is a UW-Whitewater
student who will be graduating in May with a Bachelors Degree-- major in
public policy administration. Jake is a graduate of New Berlin Public
Schools. He has 14 years in the community. He gained insight and
experience regarding City of New Berlin operations, departments and
budgets when he did an internship at New Berlin City Hall.
District 5 is fortunate to have
these two articulate, civic-minded, and well-qualified candidates
running for the aldermanic seat.
Three of the City of New Berlin's
incumbent aldermen will face challengers in the spring election.
We Care New Berlin feels it is time
for change on the City Council and is not endorsing any incumbents in
the April 6 election. |

The New Berlin Rotary
Club is holding an Aldermanic Candidates Forum on March 27 from 1-3 pm
at New Berlin West School, 18695 W. Cleveland Ave. All eight aldermanic
candidates running in the April 6 general election have been
invited. They are: District 1, Alderman John Hopkins and Dennis
Friedrich; District 3, Alderman Ron Seidl and David Jeske: District 5,
Jake Krueger and Deena Liska; and District 7, Alderman Dave Ament and
Kevin Zokan.
We Care New Berlin, an independent
committe, is supporting aldermanic candidates (District 3) David Jeske
and (District 7) Kevin Zokan by independent disbursement.
Why isn't the Candidates Forum being
held at City Hall? In 2006, New Berlin Aldermen Dave Ament, Ken
Harenda, John Hopkins and Paul Gallagher, voted to limit City Hall and
City Cable Channel use to government units, thus prohibiting citizen
groups from using our taxpayer-funded City Hall facilites. As a result,
there have been no more Voters Forums at City Hall.
Last year, We Care New Berlin supported
Paul Lincoln Scheuble and Keith Hastings for New Berlin School Board.
We were saddened at the news
that Paul Lincoln Scheuble, a former alderman and actively involved
community resident, died on December 17, apparently of septicemia.
Because only
three people are running for the three open seats on the New Berlin
School Board this year, there is no contest. So, We Care New Berlin is
not endorsing School Board candidates in the April 6 election. The New
Berlin School Board candidates are Tom David, Keith Hastings, and John
Kegel (incumbent). |
